OUR KĀPALAMA
Our school Kamehameha kāpalama, has been founded by our princess Bernice Pauahi Bishop in 1887. Our campus has a special culture to it, meaning that Hawaiians can only be accepted into the school that our reining princess has given to us.Princess Bernice Pauahi Bishop (December 19, 1831 – October 16, 1884), born Bernice Pauahi Pākī, was an aliʻi and had royal blood in the last reining monarchs of Hawaii. At her death, her estate was the largest private landownership in the Hawaiian Islands, comprising approximately 9% of Hawaii's total area. The revenue used from these islands were to create a school which is now known as Kamehameha, this school is not only in Oahu but on maui and Hawaii island. The Kamehameha schools were established in 1887 according to Pauahi will, that is why we have a day of remembrance of the valuable work she has done for us.
